So yesterday was Lillie's birthday. I asked if I could make her a cake. She said that would be fine and I had the great idea of making a hummingbird cake. We had it at our last DKG meeting and it was delicious. Anyway, long story short- when they self rising flour they mean it. When the cake came out it was flat- I thought oh well,it must just be because I made it into three layers. I frosted it and we dropped it off at Lillies that morning. When dinner came and it was time for cake Lillie goes to cut it and the knife would barely sink in. When she plopped it onto the bowl it THUMPED!!! Matt said that should have been the first warning sign. Anyway, one taste from Matt and it was over- YUCK!!! Lillie and her sister Stella tried to be nice and eat it but-no thanks IT WAS A DISASTER. Talk about embarrassing. So on this birthday of my Dads- I am sure he is thankful that I am all the way in Florida and not making him a cake.

So I have to skip FHE for this week- because we skipped it- We played a little Wii but nothing of subtance to write about so here I am writing about how nice it is to have teenagers that like to be left home alone and who like to attend RS functions with you! Last Sunday night Shelby and I went to the Stake RS Birthday Celebration. They had songs and narration from Jenny Phillips. Anyway there was six songs. They were all women but one husband and wife and one man- yes my man.

So he gets up there .. song number 4. I am holding my breath. I hope we get through this. He looks at me and taps on his heart two times and smiles. Wow! Ladies were in tears. At the end of the song he looks at me and winks. Everybody melts. Two different women came up to me and said, "I hope you are doing something special for him tonight : >" One was a Laurel. After the show he was surrounded. They all said how much he sounded like Kenny Rogers. I guess I need to buy a Kenny Rogers CD. It was a great night!

This post lets you know that when your kids get older- you can leave them!!!! Yes, I spent the weekend at Time out for Women with my Southern Sisters- the Wiggens girls! It was a blast! Eight of us stayed in one hotel room and it only cost $13.00 each. I wish that dinner was that cheap. : > The speakers were awesome! The group Mercy Road is my new favorite! Best memory of the weekend? Waking up at 7:00 to spray Jenny with silly string for her birthday! I miss my sisters soooo much but it is so nice to know that Tammy, Jenny, Sherry, and Erin and even their Mom claim me as theirs.

OK so Heidi makes being a Mom of toddlers look like the coolest thing ever- so I am going to try and convince you that being a mom of teenagers is the way to go. Already you are saying you know there is no way- but remember I am a very convincing person and pretty good at BS'ing'.

So.... here we go.... keep checking back and I will have you all wishing you had children over 13!!!

So Dylan has been playing soccer this year. It is pretty much a Mom and Dylan thing. I haul him to practices and games and sit and freeze my tail off watching him-but - we laugh alot when we drive back and forth and I love to see him doing something besides play video games.

Anyway the other day at practice we decided to leave a little early because they were just watching another team play a game- so we took off across the fields- and when I say fields I mean fields- lots and lots of them. While we walk we kick the ball back and forth avoiding small children, large adults, and shrubs, trees, water- you get the idea. When we get to the car I jump in and go to get my phone out of my pocket. No phone. mmmmmmm Look around the car..... No phone. I have lost it somewhere between the car and the field. Now if I still had the old razor I would not have cared but- this is the new phone. The droid- the $150 replacement phone. AAAAAAAA. Dylan looks at me- his eyes tells me he is wondering how I am going to handle this. I breathe- we go looking... and looking.... and looking. Right before we got back to the field where we had ducked out early- Dylan finds it. YAY!!!! He looks at me and gives me that smile only Dylan can and says "High five Mom, we found it and you didn't swear once!!!" Yes, I was impressed. He was impressed. Good day- score one for Mormon Mom!
